NEW Yamaha motor system
Favourite feature No. 1: Wow! This new Yamaha PW-S2 system really lets you 'kick on'. If you're excited about ascending a climb with as much aggression as you descend a trail then, my word, you'll get that with this new system. Yamaha motors have always put a lot of power on that first part of your pedal stroke so that there's never any danger of you getting stuck. On a mountain bike like this, that early power injection feels like the bike wants to romp up the hill like a real beast. You may never need to bring the power level out of Standard mode. Despite the power, it's really quiet too.
Zero Battery Anxiety
Favourite feature No. 2: 750wh battery. Seven Hundred and Fifty. Most of our bikes will have a 500wh battery which is actually more than enough for most of our customers and their riding habits. When we tested the bike on a hilly section near our showroom, it was still estimating 70 miles in High power assistance mode. This is probably double what we might expect on other mountain bikes in the highest power assistance.
All power, no noise
Favourite feature No. 3: The overall spec of the bike is really good. We like the Nobby Nic tyres (and actually we retrofit a fair amount of these on to other bikes at customers' requests), and we like the forks too. Just the right level for good cross-country riding. Despite having a huge battery, the bike is not as heavy as you'd assume, which means it can be agile with the power that the Yamaha motor is able to give you.
Summary: An impressive bike especially at this price point. We would dare anyone to have a go on this and not be amazed at how eager it is to climb hills.
